After a few weeks off from the shows, we are now preparing for Kirstie Allsopp’s Handmade Fair at Hampton Court which takes place from September 14th to 16th. This is one of our more local shows in such beautiful surroundings, it’s the ideal way to round off the summer.
What is the Kirstie Allsopp Handmade Fair?
The Handmade Fair started five years ago, and Fabrics Galore have been there every year. It brings together many of our favourite things; fabric, crafting, food and gifts with a lot of inspiration all on the Green of Hampton Court Palace.
Where can I find the Fabrics Galore stand?
There are 300 hand-picked sellers across two shopping villages, which we are very pleased to be one of. Our stand is in the West Shopping Marquee at W185, and it will be packed full of all sorts of stunning fabrics!
What does The Handmade Fair entail?
The Handmade Fair isn’t all about shopping; it also includes opportunities to learn a new skill or be inspired to start a new hobby with a super theatre, skills workshops and opportunities to get involved in a Grand Make. However, we are also super excited to go because of all the lovely foodie stalls, so we can treat ourselves to a nice bit of cake and maybe a Gin and Tonic at the end of the day.
What makes this show slightly different to others we go to is that it isn’t just about fabric. You can see experts on calligraphy, do workshops on block printing or see a talk by Annie Sloan. Many of the workshops still have places including the Papercutting with Kyleigh Orlebar from Kyleigh’s Papercuts for just one example.
However, there is still lots of sewing inspiration with classes from Janone where you can learn to make a kimono. Of course when you have been inspired and learned how, we will be on hand with plenty of lovely drape fabrics, for you to make plenty more.
Tilly of Tilly and the Buttons is also going to be giving a talk on using knit fabrics on the Saturday, so we will be packing a good selection of jersey and knit fabrics for you to peruse.
On top of this, be sure to get a head start on your Christmas preparations by checking out our new selection of new Christmas crafting cottons and fat quarters during your visit!
The Homemade Fair also has talks and workshops about interiors and home-wares, so we will also be bringing a good selection of soft furnishing cloths to add to the mix.
