Fabrics Galore at the Knitting & Stitching Show, Alexandra Palace

The Fabrics Galore team are exhausted after working twelve hour days non-stop over four fabulous days at The Alexandra Palace Knitting & Stitching Show, our flagship Autumn event where we love to see lots of our loyal customers and meet many new ones too! The Knitting & Stitching Show at Ally Pally really delivers on its reputation as the definitive textile event in the UK and never disappoints with all the sewing demonstrations, textile galleries and over 300 exhibitors inspiring the nation’s crafters.

Top selling Autumn fabrics at Knitting & Stitching

For those of you who couldn’t make it, we thought it would be useful to point you towards our most popular selling fabrics at the show although we have many more in our South London shop and available in our online store.

Jersey Fabrics

As ever this time of year, Jersey fabrics were very popular on the stand and experienced dressmakers at Knitting & Stitching were pleased with the structure offered by our range of double jersey ponte de roma in camel , charcoal and navy. Our grown-up prints are also selling fast online especially those with a subtle but novel print like our constellation jersey, or in the rich colours which have been trending this Autumn like the Amelie jersey in teal .

Find all of these exciting designs and more by taking a look at the latest jersey fabrics.

Alexander Henry Halloween inspired Fabrics

We are still seeing the effects of the fantastic Frida Kahlo exhibition at the V&A running until November 4th as our range of Alexander Henry Frida Kahlo inspired fabrics were very popular on the stand. With Halloween just around the corner, crafters looking for a grown up Halloween vibe which will last long after October 31st were inspired by the Alexander Henry prints like the fabulous Fiesta de los Muertos or the aptly named Heart of Darkness print as well as the more obvious Halloween fabrics like our Halloween skeletons.

Whatever the time of year, our range of Alexander Henry fabrics offer stunning and eye-catching designs.

Corduroy Fabrics

As predicted in our recent blog on the best Autumn fabric trends, corduroy flew off the stand throughout the show. Although people tend to think of corduroy in rich Autumn colours like russet or dark green, this year high street fashion is showing trouser suits in bright corduroy fabrics like our super bright red and yellow corduroy. Check out our complete range of corduroy fabrics online including our 70’s inspired floral corduroys!

Denim continues to delight

Clearly denim is a fabric which is never going out of fashion and sales of our denim fabrics were an unexpected success at the show including our Japanese Red Selvedge and the softer mid weight pre-washed denims. Call us at the London shop on 0207 738 9589 for advice on which weight denims are ideal for your particular sewing project. Take inspiration from our recently updated denim fabric range.

Thank You Knitting & Stitching!

A final big Thank you to Alexandra Palace and Knitting & Stitching for another fantastic event – we are extremely tired but very happy and can’t wait for Knitting & Stitching in Harrogate at the end of November. We hope to see our lovely northern based customers there and look forward to introducing Fabrics Galore to many new dressmakers.
