February 28th – 3rd March 2019
Fabrics Galore Stand i40
Spring at Fabrics Galore means Olympia!
Here at Fabrics Galore HQ in South London, we are enjoying the early taste of Spring weather and it’s certainly warming us up nicely for our preparations for the Spring Knitting & Stitching Show at Kensington Olympia.
After the smaller quilting fairs we attended back in January, we are really excited about the first big Knitting & Stitching show in 2019 and even more excited that it’s in our home city of London! Just 3 miles and a 15-minute train ride separates our lovely Fabrics Galore shop in Battersea from Olympia but apart from the proximity, there are plenty of other reasons we’re excited about The Spring Knitting & Stitching Show!
1. It's the first big London show of the year
Which means it’s super easy for all Londoners to get to and straightforward for sewing travellers from further afield. And more to the point it's on the right side of the river. If any of our online customers are coming to Olympia, why not make the short detour to Clapham Junction and come and meet us at our london fabric shop?
2. Of all the dressmaking shows it's the most modern
This is reflected in the show’s ambassadors which include Zandra Rhodes, celebrating 50 years of her label, The Foldline’s Kate Underdown and Rachel Walker and Tilly from Tilly and the Buttons to name just a few, all modern textile enthusiasts and passionate about creativity. Our very own Michael describes Knitting & Stitching Olympia as “a carefully curated, stylish and inspirational show". He has even organised a new “pinny” especially in Graphic Swirls.
Olympia has a fabulous textile gallery with artists like Ariella Green showing their work; as well as 190 workshops and classes over the weekend.
3. New Spring Sewing School
New at the show in 2019 is the chance for budding sewing enthusiasts to attend a Spring sewing school either as a half day or full day workshop. Beginners and more experienced sewers can learn how to make various garments from top seamstress teachers including a recent make featured on the new series of The Great British Sewing Bee, an Upcycled Denim Pinafore Dress. This is inspiring us to bring our very best selection of new pre-washed denim fabrics!
4. The chance to showcase our best new Spring/Summer fabrics
At Fabrics Galore we have been taking loads of deliveries in preparation for the show, including some classic and new Alexander Henry. We expect to sell lots more of the Alexander Henry Frida Kahlo fabrics which have proved so popular since the amazing V&A exhibition in 2018. We are bringing our latest home furnishing fabrics too and are particularly excited to have Alphabet Animals back, so we can bring the play mat to Olympia. Browse the latest patterns from Alexander Henry fabrics.
5. New Samples Galore!
As it’s the first big show of the year, we have had lots of new samples to do justice to the inspiration displayed at the show. So, whatever the show inspires you to make, we aim to have the perfect fabric on the stand for your sewing project. We have chosen to feature Tie Dye and Leopard samples so keep an eye out for them and take your pick of the best leopard print fabrics on the Fabrics Galore stand.
6. Spring Weather!
Finally let’s hope the Beast from the East stays away from Knitting & Stitching Olympia this year as we don’t want any more tears from Team Fabrics Galore!
Fabrics Galore will be on Stand 140 at Knitting & Stitching Olympia from February 28th until March 3rd. We really hope to see you there but if you can’t make it for any reason, visit our online fabric materials store for your next Stitching fabric inspiration!
