Interior Fabric Trends for 2026: Colours, Textures and Patterns to Transform Your Home

Interior Fabric Trends for 2026: Colours, Textures and Patterns to Transform Your Home

Colour Trends

  • Blue is Back: but blues are moodier and darker in shades ranging from cobalt and grey blues to icy blues. Deluxe, Pinterest, Lick and Etsy all named blue as their colour of the year. These blues feel calm, grounded and timeless.

  • Brown resurgence: rich chocolate tones replace the lighter cappuccino shades of the last 2 years (remember Pantone’s Mocha Mousse?) and are being used on walls and upholstery to create a cocooning space.

  • Earthy and natural tones: burgundy, ochre, rust and spice inspired shades are trending this Spring for a more grounded palette more reminiscent of Autumn than Spring.

  • Soft Neutrals and Pinks: let’s not forget that Pantone named Cloud Dancer their 2026 colour of the year, described as a billowy white. Neutral colours are used to create calm, comforting spaces while complementary blush pinks and terracotta lift the neutrals out of the ordinary.

Interior Style

"Saxon" Plain Upholstery Fabrics

  • Quieter, softer interiors: this means a move away from maximalism towards understated tonal spaces. Natural fibres, plain upholstery and smaller scale prints provide harmony and a sense of calm.
  • Comfort-led design: deep-seated sofas, cocooning bedrooms and restful colours underline the need for digital detoxing and for emotional comfort.
  • Curves and Drapes: the softness is reflected in the lack of angles. Everything, including the furniture is rounded and fluid reinforcing the sense of calm.
  • Personalised design: in 2026 we want our homes to reflect our personalities, through artwork, textiles and meaningful objects rather than buying into a particular design aesthetic. People are bored of the ubiquitous quiet luxury trend where everyone’s homes look the same. This is great for the home furnisher. Embroidered textiles and patchwork are a big trend this season.

Materials and Textures

Furnishing Bouclé Fabrics

  • Natural and tactile textiles dominate. For the first time ever, in 2026 Etsy have named a “Texture of the Year” as washed linen, “a material that captures quiet luxury without any of the fuss”, according to  House Beautiful. It’s relaxed and “lived-in”.

  • Bouclé refuses to leave the interiors party, as it still fulfils the desire for soft textures. with corduroy, velvet and woven fabrics underlining the tactile trend for soft to the touch surfaces. Texture is way more important than shine.
  • Furniture trends: burl wood is everywhere, with its irregular, visible growth rings reinforcing the natural, relaxed vibe.
  • Patchwork and Embroidery: named “Beyond the Quilt” by The Times, a craft revival adds warmth and nostalgia with hand-finished details. Quilters rejoice!

Pattern and Print

  • Small-scale and textured prints: The large-scale maximalist prints of recent years make way for less showy micro-patterns and tonal layers which add depth without overwhelming.  The Times named Liberty’s Betsy Bloom floral print as a classic example of this.
  • Re-imagined stripes, gingham and coastal influences: Stripes and Seaside Blues ( as seen at John Lewis and M&S) take a more modern and grounded turn. There are no nautical clichés here, just beautifully designed blue and white soft furnishings with at most, a subtle shell or fish pattern.

  • Modern Folk and English garden motifs: floral and folk embroidery capture the new nostalgic aesthetic - handmade yet elevated.

Room-Specific Trends

  • Living Rooms: the quiet luxury trend has evolved to be something more individual, yet the desire for natural materials which will stand the test of time is stronger than ever. Linen and wood are going to be everywhere with layering a key trend. Expect to see plenty of natural fibres especially slubby linens, plain upholstery in tonal shades.
  • Bedrooms: in 2026 as people prioritise sleep, bedrooms become sleep sanctuaries with plush rugs, textured headboards and layered window treatments. Blackout blinds might be paired with sheer linen curtains to create a space which feels privately cocooning by night but light and airy during the day. Marks & Spencer’s bedlinen range is almost all linen.
  • Kitchens: earthy colours and natural textures create warmth and timelessness. The burgundy hues of Autumn will still have a place.

Recreate the 2026 Interiors Trends at Home

Whether you’re planning a full room refresh or just updating your cushions, 2026’s trends are relaxed rather than prescriptive.  They are incredibly fabric-friendly, favouring texture, layering and hand-finished details over perfectly polished looks. Think of your home as a canvas for relaxing blues, earthy neutrals, washed linens, corduroys and nostalgic florals, making these trends unique to you.  If a ready-made piece on the high street has caught your eye, there’s every chance you can recreate it with a few metres of home furnishing fabric, your sewing machine and a few hours of creative relaxation.
