Who is Frida Kahlo?
Frida Kahlo de Rivera is a recognised character in art history and regarded as an icon in the femi-nism and LGBTQ movement. Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist who painted portraits, self-portraits and other paintings inspired by the nature and artefacts of Mexico. Her paintings had strong auto-biographical elements and mixed realism with fantasy.
What was Frida Kahlo's style?
Her carefully assembled look, which can be seen in the array of her fabrics, depicts portraits of her over a period of years. She was recognised for her dark braids, chunky necklaces and visible mon-obrow, alongside the bright flowers on her embroidered blouses and skirts. All these elements are embedded in the fabrics, with every defining detail portraying her personality and style. Made from cotton, our Frida Kahlo selection is ideal for quilting projects.
