Frida Kahlo print fabric is often hard to find, so at Fabrics Galore we are such Frida fans that we have dedicated an entire collection to Frida Kahlo cotton fabrics designed by the fabulous Alexander Henry.
The V&A museum held an exhibition called 'Frida Kahlo: Making Her Self Up', in 2018 and introduced Frida Kahlo to a whole new audience. So why not get out the sewing machine and make yourself a Frida print dress or use one of the gorgeous Frida fabrics as your next quilt fabric.

Who is Frida Kahlo?
Frida Kahlo de Rivera is a recognised character in art history and regarded as an icon in the feminism and LGBTQ movement. Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist who painted portraits, self-portraits and other paintings inspired by the nature and artefacts of Mexico. Her paintings had strong auto-biographical elements and mixed realism with fantasy.
What was Frida Kahlo's style?
Her carefully assembled look, which can be seen in our range of Frida Kahlo fabrics, depicts portraits of her over a period of years. She was recognised for her dark braids, chunky necklaces and visible monobrow, alongside the bright flowers on her embroidered blouses and skirts. All these elements are embedded in the fabrics, with every defining detail portraying her personality and style. Made from cotton, our Frida Kahlo selection is ideal for quilting projects.
