WHAT IS CORDUROY FABRIC MADE OF?

In most instances, corduroy fabric is made from 100% cotton or a mixture of cotton and polyester.

WHAT IS CORDUROY FABRIC USED FOR?

Thanks to its durability, velvet like appearance and super-soft feel, corduroy fabric is now used heavily within the fashion industry and interior design industry.

Since its first appearance in the Oxford English Dictionary in 1774, corduroy has been in and out of fashion, and is extremely popular at present. It was mainly used for traditional work wear clothing until the 1970’s when it was started to be used for more high fashion clothing. It is an ideal fabric for trousers, skirts and jackets. It can occasionally be used for soft furnishing like scatter cushions but not as regular use for armchairs as it doesn't have a good rub test.

Corduroy is named so due to its appearance, as it looks as if there are multiple cords sewn together to create the fabric and is for all intents and purposes, a ridged form of velvet. It is one of the more durable types of fabric, so you can make almost anything out of the cloth, from pants to pillows! Find the perfect fabric below.
