Ribbing fabrics for t-shirts and sweatshirts
Our tubular jersey ribbing comes in a variety of weights that are perfect for both jersey and sweatshirt. If you’re looking for a lightweight ribbing then go for 1x1 rib which will be perfect for jersey fabrics such as a t-shirt neckline. For something that is better for sweatshirts, outerwear or a bomber jacket then the 2x2 ribbing will work well. We’ve got a large variety of colours and printed ribbing too plus all our ribbed fabric has a high cotton content.
What does rib knit mean?
Rib knit is a pattern made by stitching in vertical lines. Created through a series of knit and purl stitches, rib knit fabric often displays textured alternate ridges. Most commonly used for clothing projects, mostly as cuffing and the collars on sweat shirts and bomber jackets.
Is ribbed fabric stretchy?
Ribbed knit fabrics are stretchy and hold elasticity to them, which means they can stretch without distorting their original shape. Ideal for clothing, ribbed material is typically made of cotton fibres, rayon fibres or a blend, and feels thicker due to its texture.
