Goodness me, how time flies when you’re having fun with fabric, but we are as stunned as you probably are to realise that Fabrics Galore London turns 30 on Saturday April 23rd. However impossible that seems, rest assured that we are planning some special celebrations which involve you our customers, so do read on for all the details of our 30th Birthday Bonanza….
Fabrics Galore London turns 30
It’s exactly 30 years since owner Paul first cut the ribbon on the new fabric shop on Lavender Hill in London, realising his dream of creating a fun and inspirational environment for people to find all kinds of high quality and interesting fabrics, whether for dressmakers, quilters or home furnishers. The name Fabrics Galore actually came from his grandmother’s fabric shop in Skipton, North Yorkshire and Paul is the 3rd generation of fabric retailers in his family.
For the past 30 years, Paul and his loyal “Team FG” have been serving the good people of London, who love the friendly vibe and expert advice they receive in the shop. Branching out to exhibit all over the country and launching Fabrics Galore online in 2016 was a natural progression from the shop, although Paul is still regularly to be found chatting away to customers.

Special Promotion
We will say thank you to customers with a special “Once in 30 years” promotion, the details of which will be revealed closer to the day, so do watch our social media pages and our website home page closer to April 23rd.
A Thank you to the Community
Where would we be without our community? And community seems increasingly important in what continues to be difficult times. We try our best to help where we can and we are always ready with a bag of scraps to give to schools, both in the shop and online. If you are ever looking for some, let us know and we will do our best to sort you out with something.
Other charities we have supported over the years include:
-
Fine Cell Work is a charity helping prisoners to learn new skills which will help them earn money and lead crime-free lives. Prisoners are trained in high-quality, skilled, needlework undertaken their cells to foster hope, discipline and self-belief.
-
Linus Project - We highlighted their work recently in a blog post but in case you missed it, The Linus Project is a network of ladies who make quilts and in some cases incubator covers for neonatal wards.
- Ovarian Cancer Action - This is our charity of choice and we have supported them in various ways over the past few years and will continue to do so in the future.
