Harrogate Knitting and Stitching Show

Harrogate Knitting and Stitching Show

HALL C STAND C240

After a busy few weeks in the shop, our attention has turned to the next show which is the Knitting and Stitching Show at the Harrogate Convention Centre. This show is a special one in the year for many reasons and one that the FG team look forward to and this is why….

1. IT IS THE LAST SHOW OF THE YEAR.

Everyone knows that the Fabrics Galore team love a show, from the satisfaction of filling 4-5 boxes of fat quarters, to the traditional Starbucks Breakfasts with the Boss and especially meeting new customers and welcoming back old favourites. But Harrogate means that we are getting to the end of the year and the excitement for Christmas can really begin, and Michael gets a break from folding and rolling.

2. PAUL GETS TO GO HOME AND SEE HIS MUM AND DAD.

Fabrics Galore fans will know that Paul has a background in fabrics. He’s been using a rolling machine since he was knee high to a grass hopper. In fact the first Fabrics Galore was in Skipton, started by his Mum. So the Harrogate show is an opportunity for him to go back home and see his parents.

3. HARROGATE IS THE HEART OF NORTH YORKSHIRE

Paul is also a very proud Yorkshireman, and was very keen to tell us all about how beautiful the famous Yorkshire Dales are. This area has a large number of castles and cathedrals too which add to the beauty.

4. THE SHOW INCLUDES A TEXTILE GALLERY.

Back to the show, this show has 23 textile galleries featuring the likes of John Allen, the Embroiderers Guild and Nigel Cheney. These are full of inspiration and makes the show really worth a visit.

5. BETTY'S TEA ROOM IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER

This is probably the real honest reason we are excited to be going back to the North. Betty’s Tea Room has been going for nearly 100 years, first opening in 1919. The mince pies in particular are legendary and something to look forward to all year.

With all of this in mind, we have to concentrate on what we are packing on to the van; almost the first thing we turn our attention to are the fat quarters. We will be taking everything a quilter could possibly look for from wide width ones to the colourful batiks and including all our Christmas themed fabric favourites.

We have noticed recently both online and at the shows, the continued popularity of our jersey fabrics especially these warm sweat shirtings. Our sweatshirt made of the glittery Bambi sweat shirting has proved a hit, however they could be used for some super cute leggings too. The added sparkle is always a good idea at this time of year, so the whole range will be making their way North. Take a closer look the the Bambi sweat shirting fabric.

One of the more recent arrivals at the shop, have been the wools which have gone down a treat with both staff and customers. The Tartan wools are particularly exciting because of the unusual colour palette and just how soft they are, they are so new that this will be their first outing at a show. Browse the latest tartan fabric collection.

In contrast to the new wools we will also be taking a lot of classic soft furnishings. Whether it be Garden Birds or the incredibly popular Alice in Wonderland Sketch, there will be something for every craft project you can imagine at our stand.

At the shop we get super duper excited when new samples arrive, and the little girl's dress we had made from the Alice in Wonderland Liberty print.

This dress is adorable, so we will be packing a good selection of other pretty fabrics including printed corduroys which are super cute and the soft chambrays in lots of colours. These would make great Christmas presents for any lucky little girl.
