Sewing for Pleasure
NEC from 14th-17th March 2019
Stand Number A28

So the van is barely unloaded and we are already thinking about the next show which is Sewing for Pleasure at the NEC Birmingham; we are fully submerged in the Spring Show Season!

Get Ready for Jazzy New Fabric Prints!

After the success of the Knitting and Stitching show last week, we are all fully pumped and keen for the next one especially with all the new jazzy fabrics we have ready. Fabrics Galore has taken delivery of a few new things but just as exciting is the selection of old favourites that are back on our shelves from every department: Alexander Henry, Home Furnishings and Jersey; but don't panic we are also cutting batik fat quarters like demons as they went down so well last week.

New Adult Prints in the Jersey Fabric Department

The Jersey department has hugely increased in the last few weeks, with new adult prints such as the Floral Outlines in two different colours. But also new super cute children's prints like the Safari Jersey, the little yawning Tiger is very very adorable. These would look amazing as a little pyjama set especially when it’s teamed with our ribbing or a co-ordinating pair of striped jerseys leggings which will also be making their way to Birmingham.

More Frida Kahlo Designs from Alexander Henry

We have also taken delivery of some Alexander Henry in the last few weeks which was very exciting as there is a New Frida’s Garden, in a rust colour. It seems timely to have another injection of Frida Kahlo seeing as it’s International Women’s Day on Friday 8th March, and she is quite rightly a feminist icon. If you wanted to learn more about her, have a look at a blog we wrote about Frida Kahlo's Life.

In time for the new show season we have had a few samples made including a great little black dress out of the Alexander Henry Tale of Dragon fabric, which is perfect for all the Mothers of Dragons. And finally from this department is the return of La Paloma in tea, this fabric works for all ages and as it is a craft weight cotton it can be used to dressmaking but is also strong enough for cushions or to add a Mexican flavour to a bag.

Not Forgetting The Latest Soft Furnishing Additions!

The soft furnishings have also had an update too, we have been particularly taken with the Day at the Zoo block print. Although we haven't got round to it, this would make a great floor mat for any little one, although it’s a toughy to decide between this one and the Alphabet Animals. Slightly more grown up but still perfect for Easter is the new Bouncing Bunnies in a very classic muted colour palette, which we are busy making into a new sample apron as I type.

We'll See You at Sewing for Pleasure!

Now I haven't been able to show you all the jazzy things we have in store for Birmingham, and the next few months generally but we will be at Stand A28 from the 14th -17th March with lots and lots of fabrics. Fabrics Galore is expecting a few new deliveries over the next few weeks too, so keep your eyes peeled on the New In section if you can’t make it to the show.

Anyway must dash, there are 100’s of batik fat quarters to fold. In the meantime, make sure to check out our online fabric store.
