THE FESTIVAL OF QUILTS SHOW 2018 - Stand B27
We are getting ourselves ready for the Festival of Quilts show which will be at the NEC in Birmingham from the 9-12th August. This one of our biggest shows of the year and we have spent the last few months sourcing beautiful fabrics to inspire your next sewing project.
For anyone who hasn’t visited the show before it’s an absolute must. We’ve been exhibiting since it’s inception in 2003 and it’s become the largest patchwork event in Europe with over 24,000 visitors each year. We love greeting old customers and meeting news ones, we’ve been exhibiting there for so long our stand is always in the same place! We’re on stand B27 this year which is really near the entrance to the show, so come and say hello.
The thing that really sets the Festival of Quilts show apart is the workshops and exhibitions that sit alongside all that fabric shopping. There are talks and lectures from famous quilters as well as demos to top up your sewing skills. For those that want to get their hands dirty there are also 1 hour workshops teaching you everything from step-by step mitred binding for your quilt to paper piecing. There is something for everyone.
If you’re looking for inspiration then you must go an check out the gallery spaces as there will be over 700 quilts on show. There is also a competition quilt section where you can enter your make to be displayed and entered to win a cash prize. It might well be a little late for this year but you can definitely buy all you fabrics ready to submit next year!
When you are stuffed full of inspiration then make sure you head retail part of the show. With over 300 exhibitors you are bound to find some fabrics you can’t leave behind. We love seeing the patchwork fabrics everyone brings and as a business is gives us an idea of what you want to sew with. We always bring our house classics including Liberty cotton lawns, striking Alexander Henry fabrics, Indian batiks and a whole load of fat quarters! We’ve just had a bumper delivery of Liberty prints you haven’t seen before and also some fantastic new Alexander Henry prints - they are all well worth the visit. We like to mix things up and alongside quilting cottons we’re bringing some of our beautiful home furnishing fabrics.. because, well, who doesn’t need another fabric in their life?
You can buy tickets to the show from the Festival of Quilts website, and for any of the workshops of events you can see the full rundown here.
