REQUEST A FABRIC SAMPLE SERVICE
We recently updated our Request a Sample Service and now you can add a Fabric Sample directly from the product page.
At Fabrics Galore we understand that you will sometimes want to touch and see the fabrics in person before committing to your fabric purchase. We therefore offer our “Request a Sample” service on most of our fabrics (not on panels or gift cards) so that you can order samples of fabrics. We recommend this if you are unsure about the right fabric to buy.
How do I order a Fabric Sample?
Any fabric that is available for sampling will have a button in the listing that lets you add that sample to your basket (it is underneath the Add a Matching Needle button).
What is the size of the Fabric Sample?
The Swatch Sample will be cut as a 10cm strip by the full width of the fabric roll eg. if you the fabric is 140cm wide your sample will be 10cm by 140cm.
What is the Price of the Fabric Sample?
We calculate the price as 10% of the full metre price of the fabric so the price will be dependent on the fabric you select. For example, if the fabric price is £10 per metre, the cost of the swatch will be £1.
What is the Cost of Delivery?
If you are ordering other fabrics by the half metre, the cost of shipping is already paid for and there will be no additional charge for the sample shipping. If you are only ordering samples, the cost of delivery will be £1.50 in addition to the cost of the fabric swatches. Remember that you can also order samples for click and collect from the shop if you are a local customer.
Returns Policy
Please note that samples may not be returned or refunded. Sometime there may be a slight discrepancy between your sample and the fabric you subsequently order if the fabric is from a different roll; this is due to batch and dye differences.

When to Buy Fabric Samples
When selecting fabric for a large home furnishing project such as curtains, blinds, headboards or upholstery, we always recommend buying a fabric sample to check the following:
- For colour matching with existing fabrics and to check it is the desired colour in different lighting.
- To check texture to ensure it is the right look and feel for your project.
- To check the weight to ensure it will be suitable for its intended use, such as high traffic upholstery.
By ordering samples, you can be sure that the fabric chosen will be true to your desired interior décor scheme.
Similarly, when buying dressmaking fabric for a large, investment piece such as a wool coat or a Liberty dress, you may want to purchase a fabric sample to check it is exactly what you want and has the correct drape for your project.
